MERLOT Journal of Online Learning and Teaching

Vol. 3, No. 1, March 2007

A Note of Thanks and Welcome!

As we begin our third volume of JOLT, we regret to announce that one of our founding editors, Dr. Tracy Penny Light, is stepping down as co-editor with this issue but has generously agreed to remain an active member of the JOLT Editorial Board. Tracy has been an integral part of JOLT since its conception in New Orleans in 2003. She helped guide it through the initial planning stages and worked diligently to bring it to fruition with the inaugural issue in 2005. I'm sure I speak for the entire JOLT Board and for its many readers when I say "Thanks" to Tracy for her hard work these past four years.

Fortunately, the vacancy created by Tracy's departure has been filled by Dr. Michelle Pilati, Professor of Psychology at Rio Hondo College, who has been an active member of the JOLT Editorial Board and a JOLT peer reviewer from the outset. Like Tracy, Michelle has been involved with JOLT from its earliest stages and has helped craft it into its present form. She began assuming the role of co-editor with the current issue and will take on the full responsibilities with the June issue. Please join me in welcoming Michelle on board as our new co-editor!

With this issue we also welcome to the JOLT Editorial Board Mark J. W. Lee,  Adjunct Lecturer, School of Education, at Charles Sturt University in Wagga Wagga, New South Wales, Australia. Mark's interests lie in the areas of adult / higher education and information and communications technologies. He brings to the board a wealth of experience and new perspectives. A side benefit of having him join us is that now the sun never sets completely on the JOLT Board!

Ed Perry
JOLT Co-Editor
